Tailored Barber Co. & Tattoos is more than a barbershop or a tattoo studio—it’s a community built on craftsmanship, connection, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Founded by Joe Flores, Tailored began humbly in a one-chair space inside a tattoo shop in Ogden, Utah. What started as a passion project has evolved into a thriving, multi-location business that now includes barbers, tattoo artists, apprentices, and creatives who all share the same mission: to provide exceptional services in an environment where every client feels valued and respected.

Our mission is rooted in craftsmanship, community, and integrity. At Tailored, we are committed to building lasting relationships and positively impacting lives. We strive to create a space where both clients and professionals can grow, collaborate, and thrive. Every service—from haircuts to tattoos—is a celebration of confidence, creativity, and the human connection.

Joe’s journey began at just 13, cutting hair for friends and family. By the time he entered barber school in 2011, he already had a full clientele, laying the foundation for what would become Tailored Barber Company.

“I never got into this for the money,” Joe says. “I got into it because I had a passion for the craft, for the industry, and for the relationships I was building in my chair.”

In 2016, after working in a tiny one-chair space, Joe knocked down a wall and added four more chairs—officially launching Tailored Barber Company. From day one, the goal was simple: put people first. Build a culture where relationships, not transactions, drive the experience.

What sets Tailored apart is our standard of service—and the extraordinary team that brings it to life every day. Our barbers, tattoo artists, apprentices, and creatives are the heart of our business. Their talent, dedication, and passion elevate everything we do. Whether it’s a flawless fade, a meaningful piece of ink, or a mentoring session with a young barber, our team leads with skill and heart. We are endlessly proud of their work and deeply grateful for their contributions to our shared vision.

In 2017, Joe married Kayla Flores, a licensed cosmetologist and business school graduate who became an essential part of Tailored’s growth. Kayla runs all of the behind the scenes business side of the house, as the Director of Tailored as a whole and HR. Together, they expanded the company, faced challenges head-on, and continually pushed boundaries. In 2018, they moved into a larger 2,000-square-foot space in Roy, Utah, offering 11 barber stations and room for a growing team and loyal clientele.

Then came 2020—and the COVID-19 pandemic. Uncertainty hit, but Joe and Kayla responded with creativity and courage. They launched a signature line of grooming products, including pomades, beard oils, and tattoo balms, helping the business stay resilient during turbulent times without sacrificing quality or care.

That same spirit of innovation led to the idea of uniting two artistic worlds: barbering and tattooing. With deep roots in a tattoo shop, the couple envisioned a space where both crafts could coexist. When city zoning laws in Roy threatened that dream, Kayla took action—lobbying officials, gathering over 1,500 signatures, and presenting their case. In 2022, Tailored Tattoos officially opened, marking a powerful new chapter.

“Kayla was my backbone through everything,” Joe says. “She believed in this from the start, and her drive and determination made it all possible.”

The following year, Tailored Barbering Apprenticeship Academy opened its doors, with a mission to mentor and uplift the next generation of barbers. Joe’s personal journey—rising from humble beginnings to business owner—fuels this commitment. “Barbering not only saved my life,” he says, “it changed it. We want to give others that same chance.”

In June 2024, Tailored came full circle with the opening of Tailored Barber Co. II, The Collective, in Ogden, Utah. This space blends barbering, tattoo artistry, and creative entrepreneurship, providing a collaborative home for professionals of all kinds. It’s more than a shop—it’s a living reflection of Tailored’s mission: to create a space where people feel seen, supported, and inspired.

Through every expansion, challenge, and milestone, our team remains our greatest asset. They bring their best every day, creating not just stunning work, but a culture of mutual respect, authenticity, and growth. We are endlessly thankful for their talents and dedication, and we are committed to helping them thrive.

At Tailored, it’s never just about the service—it’s about the experience. It’s about community, empowerment, and the belief that everyone who walks through our doors should leave feeling confident, respected, and uplifted. Tailored Barber Co. is approaching their 10 year anniversary and have just scratched the surface of what’s to come in the future.
